This work focuses on the study of how and why the sizes of species populations change over time. It addresses various topics, including:
- Life history theory: Difference between r and K strategists, detailing their characteristics and how these affect population dynamics.
- Autoecology and Synecology: Study of the relationships between individual species and their environment (autoecology), and interactions within ecological communities (synecology).
- Stenoic and Euryoic species: Classification based on tolerance to environmental changes.
- Catch per unit effort (CPUE): Method for estimating species abundance.
- Growth models: Includes both exponential growth, typical of r-strategists, and logistic growth, associated with K-strategists.
Thus, a comprehensive approach is offered regarding how populations interact with their environment and how these interactions affect the conservation and management of species.
